And on top of that, we really don’t hesitate to share the technologies we use that empower our company. We instead encourage our customers whenever possible to use these technologies to help them grow their businesses. And that’s the only secret of our business. Anyway, chances are you might have not heard of Amazon CloudFront before, it’s an Internet Cloud-based service that distribute the website content from its various worldwide server locations to its visitors depending on their geographical location.

Normally a website is hosted on a server mostly located in United States, and regardless of the users geographical location, everyone is directed to that server located in US to access a website. However with Amazon CloudFront your Website is copied to several different server locations in the World. For Instance most of our Website visitors come from Pakistan, and now our Pakistani visitors will be accessing the Website from a server in Singapore instead of USA. And this significantly decreases the Websites load time. Before this loadtime of our Website within Pakistan was about 7-8 Secs since it was only hosted in a USA Server. Now after moving to Amazon CloudFront it’s taking merely 2-3 Secs as it’s accessed from Singapore so the Data has to travel less than before. Likwise users from Europe or North America will be accessing our website from the nearest server to their location.

Hanjin Shipping Steps Closer to Becoming Global Total Logistics Company

Misc

hanjin

shipping
<guid

The company is enlarging its size by aggressively investing in fleet and promoting shipping/logistics related businesses, which are expected to become the next drive forces of the company.

Expanding Bulk Line Business through Aggressive Investment

As the first step to execute the expansion plan of its bulk line business, Hanjin Shipping has ordered today 2 VLCC (Very Large Crude Carriers) for its own.

Based on the company’s policy to increase the portion of the bulk line business, which is now approximately 20% of total sales, Hanjin Shipping is putting large efforts into improving its business competency and expanding its fleet. As part of the plan, Hanjin Shipping successfully established a tanker corporation in Singapore in 2007 and recently merged with one of its subsidiaries, Keoyang Shipping.

Moreover, along with 20 some middle/long term chartered bulk vessels to be delivered this year, Hanjin Shipping is planning on expanding its bulk fleet from current 100 some ships including 30 some cape-sized to approximately 250 vessels in 5 years.

Improving Competency of Container Line Business

Last February Hanjin Shipping’s container line division concluded the contract for chartering a total of 9 13,000TEU class ships for more than 12 years. Adopting these mega-sized vessels was the company’s strategic decision to reduce operating cost and improve service quality and also the response to the global demand for mega-sized vessels.

Furthermore, Hanjin Shipping plans on almost doubling its container fleet from current 350,000TEU (11th in global scale according to AXS-Alphaliner’s Order Book in March, 2008) up to approximately 670,000TEU (7th in global scale).

Developing Shipping/Logistics Related Businesses

Besides strengthening its core businesses, Hanjin Shipping is also developing shipping/logistics related businesses, which are expected to become the company’s next drive forces.

Hanjin Shipping is planning on expanding 3PL business by extending its global network and completing its internal system. This will allow the company to have stronger business competency and start making profit.

Also, in order to boost its existing dedicated terminal business, the company is adding a few more terminals to its current 11 ones. The new locations include Rotterdam, Netherlands that is scheduled to open during the 2nd half of this year and also Algeciras, Spain. Hanjin Shipping will continue to secure more dedicated terminals in major logistics hubs around the globe.

In addition, Hanjin Shipping will be opening its first ship repair yard in China during the 2nd half of this year. This new ship repair yard will allow the company to have its vessels repaired without delay, which will improve vessel schedule and reduce cost. Furthermore, the company expects it to become a new source of income once it starts repairing other carriers’ vessels as well.

Meanwhile, based on its long term goal, ‘Vision 2017’, announced on the company’s 30th anniversary last year, Hanjin Shipping will set forth to becoming a global total logistics company earning total sales of KRW 25 trillion, operating profit of KRW 2 trillion and corporate value of KRW 15 trillion by year 2017.

< Note >

VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) Specifications:

- Weight: 320,000 DWT (Dead Weight)

- Width: 60 Meters / Length 333 Meters

- Loadable Capacity: 352,000?

- Speed: 16 Knots

13,000TEU Container Vessel Specifications

- Weight: 142,400 Tons

- Width: 48.2 Meters / Length: 366 Meters

- Loadable Capacity: 13,100 TEU

- Horse Power: 68600 KW (About 93,000 Horse Power)

- Speed: 24.3 Knots

source: hanjin.com

Hanjin Shipping launches Korea-Japan dedicated feeder service

Misc

hanjin

thailand
<guid

Also, transshipment at the company’s dedicated terminal in Busan will be another benefit for the company as well as its customers.

Especially, instead of having to secure vessel space from feeder lines case by case, Hanjin Shipping will be deploying its own ship that will enable the company to provide its customers with stable supply of vessel space even during the peak seasons.

Meanwhile, Hanjin Shipping plans on expanding its feeder network along with the existing services in Persia, Singapore, Bangladesh and North China.

< Note >

KJS (Korea-Japan Service)

- Rotation: Busan-Tokyo-Osaka-Busan

- Vessel deployed: 400TEU X 1 (HJS)

- Target Date of Launch: August 24th, 2008 (ETD Busan)

source: hanjin

All New Corolla 2008 Revealed – A bit disappointment

Misc

corolla

new model 2008

pakistan

toyota

toyota 2008
<guid

Although the new model has been launched for last few days yet i have not witnessed the new model on the road as yet, I still remember when corolla previous model was launched there was extraordinary excitement among the Corolla lovers however this time i did not see too many people making their way to nearest Toyota outlets that could be mainly because previous corolla model was starting from like Rs. 9.5 Lac and this corolla Model is starting from Rs. 16 Lac almost double the price of previous model, I know rival Civic launched ‘Reborn’ Model that also comes for like Rs. 16 Lac, However the fact is Corolla and Civic users are two universes apart, I meant Civic is always considered to be relatively high priced car than Corolla, therefore Reborn made some good sales, However i see disappointment for corolla lovers as most of them would not be able to buy this car.

The New Model is slightly bigger than the previous one, and Interior almost looked the same as of the previous model until the sales guy pointed out to me that it has got ‘leather seats’ and Sun Roof and small button attached to steering for ‘Cruise control’ – However I seriously think that Model won’t be as big success as the previous model if not a failure due to many reason, Many Banks are no longer offering Car lease and the one who are offering, are really riping customers off by charging over 21% markup, it would be too foolish to go for that. Fuel Prices are already soaring though the Marketing Rep told me this 1800 cc car can do 14 Km per liter that i hardly can believe.

They promised the delivery within 2 months and when asked if they are charging any ‘premieum’ he told me that people are offering 2.5 lac already wow … and I looked back at him like don’t fool me dude. Who the heck is gonna pay extra 2.5 lac for 18 Lac worth car and frankly this is not as ‘cute’ as Civic.

Anyway to me this Model is great disappointment for Corolla Lovers at least I am not gonna pay that much price for this car.

Import Customs Clearance at Lahore Dryport NLC Thokar Niaz Baig

Misc

lahore dryport

nlc dryport
<guid

The European Commission in 2002 ordered Deutsche Post to repay 907 million euros in purported state aid and interest. Deutsche Post in 2002 appealed the decision and will now receive a repayment. Responding to the decision, Deutsche Post said the court had confirmed the company’s legal position. The company expects to receive the cash inflow in several weeks’ time and would prefer to earmark the amount for returning to shareholders, pending clarity regarding other cash-relevant issues.
In June 2002, the Commission determined that Deutsche Post from 1994 to 1998 covered a cost deficit in the competitive business parcel segment through improper cross-subsidization with State aid funds earmarked for the financing of the universal service. Deutsche Post has always disputed this claim. Furthermore, no cross-subsidization was found in Commission antitrust proceedings completed a few months earlier. In September 2002, Deutsche Post brought an action for annulment of the Commission’s state-aid decision before the European Court of the First Instance. As a result of the Commission’s decision, however, Deutsche Post had to repay 572 million euros that was determined to be state aid plus 335 million euros in interest to the Federal Republic of Germany at the beginning of 2003. Germany will now repay this amount with interest to Deutsche Post.

soruce: dhl.com press release

Airbus selects DHL as lead transport provider

Misc

Asia

dhl

europe

express

Forwarders

freight

logistics

usa
<guid
